Show us your Web site!
Hello again everyone, it's your hosting guy -- Joe!
I was thinking today about all of the cool Web sites I've come across in my 3 years at Go Daddy and I wanted to know what our readers out there are doing with their hosting accounts.
I'm particularly looking for those Web sites that have implemented a new concept that hasn't been done before. For example, the next MySpace. Maybe you are doing something clever with our less-often used technologies, such as Ruby on Rails. Or, maybe it's a cool new way to get exposure for your business. I'm not really sure, so let's find out.
If you are proud of your Web site and the cool new concept that you came up with, share it with us!
Some quick ground rules for posts that will be approved:
1) No shameless plugging, please. I want to keep the thread readable and not too cluttered, so we're looking specifically for clever technology tricks or cool Web site concepts.
2) Must be hosted at Go Daddy, on a Shared, Virtual Dedicated, or Dedicated hosting account.
3) Must be appropriate. No adult content, sorry.
Happy hosting!
Joe

Thank you. We seem to be getting more and more "clan" (online gaming teams, for those who don't know the term) Web sites these days. It makes sense. We offer great feature at a low price, perfect for clans.
I've played a bit of AA myself, it's a fun game (and free!!)... keep up the good work, and thanks for hosting w/ Go Daddy =)

Hey, Joe! Look at my site. As crippled and only partly-functional as my poor wee bairn is, I've done what they told me at Godaddy support COULDN'T be done! See my little ads?
They said you can't input javascript, but I did it. Just Insert>script and then manually type in the javascript.
Unfortunately, I keep getting error messages now. Check out my Quick Blog, too. Just click the blog tag from the main site Homepage. To get back, click return to Home Page on the right sidebar. Boy, did I have a frustrating time trying to figure THAT one out! Any help you and the rest of the Team can and are willing to offer me, I will gratefully accept.

Interesting, thank you. I don't think we've considered inputting Javascript as a capability in our WST site builder tool. It's good to see you were able to accomplish it.

Hey Joe,
Type "Stufrsumpn" into a Google search bar.
I've hit #1 on Google!!!
Granted, I am the only "Stufrsumpn" out there, but I'm becoming visible...
Wheee!

Not the impressive looking site. But i just took a little blog template from wordpress and implemented a SMF back end for comments and discussion with php.
Makes leaving comments a little more friendly ect. All blog entries are made by me posting a new topic on the forums. Easy simple and i find it very friendly and nice to use.
Obviously still a work in progress.

Ehh, I guess you could call what I did on mine a preliminary ajax content system integrated with php and some javascript to catch parameters and stuff. Just got started with the site and ajax, so it's not impressive or open to the public yet. (So keep it on the down low. hah)
I'm actually planning on getting rid of the javascript that catches parameters and using php instead. (Which I'm also new to.)

Hi Joe
I have used Joomla CMS with godaddy.com to achieve this site. Joomla is open source and a nice compliment to the reasonable prices at godaddy. There are lots of open source components which can be implemented - some easy - some tricky and there is a large community willing to offer assistance. There, I am plugging Joomla not futureunscripted.com, but have a look anyway. godaddy's SQL database's are not on the local host which is a bit complicated, but once you get your knickers out of their knot it's okay. You also have a nifty feature that anonymises the domain owner which we like as we want women to focus on the content of futueunscripted and not the editors.

IPTV, cool. Not enough content out there regarding IPTV, in my opinion. Hope to see this take off more.
Keep up the good work.

Hey !
We implemented this new concept about online scheduling of events and synching up with your friends for our final year engineering project and thats what our site ActiveCiti is all about.
PS: Might not be much, but we have about 130 people actively using the site!
Please do take a look and let us know what you think!

Most people frown on being "trapped" in a web site with no back button functionality

Very ambitous! Good luck.
Cron jobs are not currently supported on our shared hosting accounts. They are supported on VPH and dedicated servers.

I have Deluxe Hosting with CGI - b plan, does that support cron? Do I need to change my plan?

You may see MySpace layouts given free to users, forums, E-books published by me, and I'm working to put anything helpful by me and offcourse everything will be free, except the ads
Thank you,

Hello Joe,
This is my first attempt at a website. When I first started this I had no experience in any web designing and no experience with asp or MySQL databases. Using various forums (and GoDaddy's excellent tech support for fixing my screw ups) I've managed to get this site online using the MYSQL Database opportunity. This is a regional site and I am in the process of making a statewide site now with the same theme. With the experience I've gained it should go much easier. In creating this site I have learned asp programing with the database calls, cdonts e mail, and one or two java scripts all using Frontpage. I have no formal training in any web design (i'm sure it shows) or web based programming, but I am learning. Guess I can call myself an official hack.

We have developed a new concept for presenting a professional musician web presences and just recently went with hosting via godaddy.com - our site keeps going "down" for some reason though. Try accessing http://www.BurnettMusic.com and if you get it to come up that is better than we are able to do today. Anyway, other than that, we are pleased with godaddy.com and your features. We have already contacted support, who stated that the site came up fine for them last night. The machine we are using is configured correctly and the domain is not blocked, so we are stumped...
Thanks,

Dear Online Support Team:
My two domains are hosted at Godaddy too, and I had similar problems. Try either shutting off your pop-up blocker in your browser when you are trying to edit, OR add the Website Tonight Application site to your broswer's list of trusted sites.

There isn't any other website out there like this one. People only hear about it through word of mouth. A lot of government agencies are using the materials. It fills a need that is out there.

I host everything on GoDaddy... I am self taught HTML/XHTML/CSS and ALWAYS trying to learn more (I need a bit more work on CSS so I can stop using tables so much). I am starting to look into PHP apps for forums and CMS. Anyways...

www.stratograffix.com (my old site)

We're trying a few things with the old register and search engine.
We've got a dedicated search to narrow down your options (so that you never get zero results). We also have a name search where you can enter a piece of a name (like a single letter). We also feature columns in order to arrange your results.
On the registration side, we have a nice preview feature and a new save feature, so that you can pick up your registration later. Please don't click the register button if you're not actually a missionary though. =^)
This is done in PHP using Linux databases (of course). We also use a ton of HTML and Java. Enjoy! Let me know if you think it's missing something! You can click my name or use this sucker:

Hi all. This is my new blog that I'm using off my old static site (hosted with Godaddy. It was my first attempt at a finance site. ARGH!
Anyway. For some reason my htaccess file won't work and I can't modify my blog permalinks. Anyone know why my htaccess file won't work with my GoDaddy hosting account?
Thanks if you can help.

We host our main site on a GoDaddy dedicated server. We are currently developing an open trading floor for trading telecommunications using SOAP, mod_perl, php, mySQL and other technologies. We are using virtualization technology on our dedicated server to achieve many things. For example, with our remaining bandwidth we seed the Fedora Unity torrent(s) http://torrent.fedoraunity.org/ from a guest OS running Fedora Core 5 while our main server runs CentOS. I am a co-founder of the Unity group and we also host the backup tracker for the torrent: http://fedora.bandwidthmarket.com:6969/ on our FC5 guest. Our GoDaddy server is just an extension of our services and work well as our public access point to our site.

Johnathon,
Thank you for the post, and good luck with your endeavour.
What virtualization software are you using on your Go Daddy dedicated server?

We use VMWare Server and Xen.

Very interesting. Do you use them alongside each other, or do you have VMWare running inside a Xen container, or vice versa?

I am in process of moving site over from another provider after realizing I was paying too much for hosting and domain reg. My employer even offers hosting and couldn't beat the price for me.
As a side business, I provide race timing and scoring services for athletic and motorsports events. Lower costs of doing business is always nice.
