Metropolis Updates - June 6, 2007
As part of our ongoing efforts to keep our Hosting Metropolis up to date with the latest versions of your favorite applications, we've recently deployed the following updated application versions:
* Community Server 2007
* Wordpress 2.1.3
* Mambo 4.6.2
* Vanilla 1.1.2
* OpenAds 2.0.11pr1
* OpenDB 0.81p20
More updates will be coming soon, so keep an eye out...
[FYI, as a rule of thumb, we generally like to wait 2-3 weeks after updated versions come out before we deploy in Metropolis. This allows us to be sure that any security or functionality issues get flushed out first.]
As always, feel free to continue to suggest new applications for inclusion in Metropolis! We want to make it easy for you to get up and running with a functional website, as quickly as possible!

WordPress 2.2 - any idea when you'll make it available via Metropolis? There's some cool new functionality of which I'd like to take advantage.

Thanks for the suggestion. Wordpress 2.2 is definitely in the works. I can't give you a hard date for the release, but it won't be long.

I would like to suggest delux 100gb hosting that can add multiple domain, also have its own 404 error page for each domain added. Last time I suggest multiple FTP user at bob blog, and he made it happens.

Our 100GB deluxe plan does in fact offer multiple domain hosting, and it is unlimited. It is a good suggestion, I'll forward that to the group working on it.

I'm currently running Community Server 2.1. Will there be a way to upgrade to Community Server 2007 without having to completely rebuild my site?
Reply to this
Currently, our Windows-based Metropolis applications do not support an automated upgrade (and rollback) feature -- so you would be on your own to do such an upgrade. However, this feature is currently in development -- so it will be available at some point in the near future.

I installed Gallery a couple of weeks ago. The version installed through Metropolis is not the newest stable release of 2.2.2. Can I upgrade to this version on my own or will Metropolis be updating their install any time soon?
Thanks.

We are looking at updating to version 2.2.2 in the near future. In the meantime we do not recommend that you upgrade on your own since it will fall out of sync with Metropolis and if you decide later to update to a new release from within Metropolis, it may fail and break your install.

Hi,
how does one add an application to Metropolis?
I am considering adding my FireStats statistics system (http://firestats.cc).

We really appreciate application suggestions from our customers! We keep track of the suggested application and then release them based on customer demand. We will take a look at firestats.cc. Thanks.
