MSSQL 2005

If you have a Windows Shared Hosting account, you may have recently noticed that when you create a new MSSQL database through our Hosting Control Center, you get a MSSQL 2005 database.  About a month or so
ago, we started rolling out support for this new version of the Microsoft popular relational database server.  At this point, all new databases will be created on our SQL 2005 servers.

For some more information on our MSSQL 2005 support, here are some

In order to upgrade your 2000 database to 2005, you will need to delete your old database and create a new one. Please make sure to back up all of your data before deleting your database. Access your database via the HostingControlCenter. Then you will select the X under actions to delete. From here you can then create the new 2005 database following the instructions provided.

Being new to the MS SQL environment, I was surprise to see the aspnet_ administration tables already created for me in my MS SQL DB. Using the ‘membership’ security features built into ASP.net 2.0 would really make things a lot easier for me. How ever I am not sure how to use the ASPnet_ tables in the GoDaddy environment. There does not appear to be any ‘web site administrative tool’ similar to what is provide in my local db. My question is how can I use these tables without a tool to set the various database level security features? I am sure you have thought thru this issue and have an easy solution for me.

Hi, i created a website using visual studio 2005 and a database using sql server 2005, i already uploaded them to godaddy hosting. Now i comes an error saying : An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
What do i have to do in order to make it work? please any help will be very appreciate it. Regards

We don’t allow direct internet connectivity to our SQL servers, per the security recommendations of Microsoft. In order to use the MS SQL database you will need to set it up through your Hosting Control Center. Once it has been set up you can administer your database by either accessing your Hosting Control Center or using the admin tool we provide. Please use the following links from our help center for more assistance on setting up and managing your database.

In the SQL admin control panel's query analyzer, I can't open a SQL file and submit it. What's wrong with the server SQL 2005?

The query analyzer is a little fussy when opening files, particularly large ones.  If you are unable to open the file, then try notepad and copy/paste it. The query analyzer will be updated soon and this will improve.

Do you now support SQL Server 2005 Express databases?

We don't support SQL Express on our servers. You can publish from SQL Express (running on the local machine), but you cannot use SQL Express on the hosting server.
