Security Updates to the Microsoft Windows Standard and Web Edition OS
The following changes were made to the base image to improve security. You may have already made these highly recommended changes, but if you haven't done so, instructions are below.
Disabled Anonymous FTP
To do this yourself on a pre August 23, 2007 installation, follow these steps. Open the IIS Administration Tool located in the administration tools. Restrict anonymous access to your FTP site by clearing the “Allow Anonymous Connections” box in the security accounts tab of the ftp sites properties page. Complete.
Disabled Windows File and Print Sharing
To do this yourself on a pre August 23, 2007 installation, follow these steps. Click start, control panel, and open the network connections folder. On the advanced menu item select "Advanced Settings." Click your "local area connection." (There will be some integer following local area connection.) In the bindings dialog uncheck "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" and "Client for Microsoft Networks." Complete.
