Linux File Editor

You now have the ability to edit files in your hosting account when using the 'File Manager'. If a file is selected, you will now see an 'Edit' icon to edit an existing file. If files are not selected, you can create a brand new text file.

Currently we support two modes:rich text and text-only.

Rich-Text:
If the file extension is .html or .htm, we'll open it up in rich-text mode. This uses the 'TinyMCE' editor, an HTML WYSIWYG editor similar to what you find in our WebMail and many other applications. This allows you to create an HTML page easily using familiar formatting structures.

Text-Only:
If the file is any other type, such as a PHP script, the editor will open in text-only mode allowing you to quickly change the files.

For instructions on using the new File Editor, please see the following articles.

Is a similar feature available on the Windows hosted servers? My client just purchased a godaddy site which I have designed, and I would like for him to be able to update it himself. Or can our site be moved from the Windows to Linux environment? Please let me know!

This feature will be available on Windows hosting accounts shortly. Our support team would be happy to help you decide if switching your operating system will work for you and can be contacted at 480-505-8877 or by emailing support@godaddy.com.

It Worked !! I was so glad I found this note on the ability to edit my files. I actually edited by php.ini here and avoided having to download Fedora and Plesk. Using my go daddy file manager and editor it worked great !! one less thing that needs to get done. Many Thanks
