ASP .NET 3.5 on IIS 6
The .NET 3.5 framework is now available on existing Windows shared hosting accounts. This upgrade was automatically applied to all Windows IIS6 accounts previously running version 2.0.
A few notes about this framework.
- 3.5 is backward compatible with both version 2.0 and 3.0.
- The 2.0/3.0/3.5 option is displayed under 'Languages' in the Hosting Control Center similar to this:
.NET Runtime Version ASP 1.1
ASP 2.0/3.0/3.5
- If you're currently running the 1.1 framework you can switch to the 3.5 framework by going to 'Languages' in the Hosting Control Center to make this change.

I've noticed the Virtual Dedicated Linux servers are still at Fedora v7 yet Fedora v9 was just released:

Any word on when the update will take place?

We will take this in to consideration, but at this time have no immediate plans for implementation.

I read this on another blogsite:
"With NET 3.5 on your shared hosting accounts at Go Daddy it is not possible to get write permissions on files in the application root directory or its subdirectories"
Because I am dynamically creating and modifying files, xmls etc through my app.

Write permissions are now handled in the File Manager. After accessing the File Manager under 'Content' in the Hosting Control Center, you will see a permissions icon highlight after a folder is selected. When you click this permissions icon you will have the option to set write permissions here.

Will ASP.NET 3.5 be made available on the windows VPS's?

You can download this framework to your Virtual Server. I recommend visiting the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5
website for more details.

Could you provide some instructions or a link to them on deploying .Net 3.5 to the VPS? The download package is not something we can execute on the VPS.

I have a DNN installation on my shared windows hosting account. The hosting control panel shows asp.net 2.0/3.5 link you stated above. When I check the DNN install is shows asp 2.0 and will not run 3.5 features. How can I fix this?

This is the default setting for Windows accounts. What issues are you running in to?

I am attempting to install and run an interactive image gallery module that has a few really nice features.
You can view the module page on snow covered here:
http://www.snowcovered.com/snowcovered2/Default.aspx?tabid=242&PackageID=12632
and the demo from the programmer here:
http://www.phunkeezu.co.uk/
you can see what requirements his module has on those two links. Sorry but this is the best way I know to explain what is going on.
