Windows Hosting PHP support

For those who have hosting accounts running IIS 6, you are able to use PHP 4 and PHP 5 in safe mode only. Technical support for PHP is not available for accounts running IIS 6.

    Hello,
I was really surprised to see this . Thanks a bunch.

I already send a ticket but you guys need to give the users the ability to have their custom php.ini file, with their own settings.

Also Zend Optimizer and IonCube loaders are required by many of the clients.

Keep up the good work guys, loving it.

I am trying to install ionCube Loader on my GoDaddy shared hosting account running Windows IIS and PHP5. I am able to ftp my php5.ini to my root directory and the GoDaddy server will load it. HOWEVER, the following statment in my php5.ini is not be executed: "zend_extension_ts = D:\Hosting\3374508\html\knowledge\ioncube\ioncube_loader_win_5.2.dll ".

      Do you know why?

Has anyone successfully loaded ionCube Loaded on a GoDaddy's shared account running IIS and PHP5?

I just upgraded my hosting from IIS6 to IIS7 to get php5 support for ZenCart. I am also trying to install an application that requires ioncube loaders to work. Godaddy support told me they don't support Zend Optimizer on IIS7/Php5! In addition, Zend doesn't support URL rewrite on IIS7 so you need a patch from Microsoft to support this feature (if you need it). So the short answer is you can't get there from here yet with GoDaddy Windows shared hosting using IIS7 and Php5. I am hoping that they add Zend support so that we can get ioncube loaders to work for Windows php5 apps.

I don`t understand. When I see the features of the windows hosting plan (deluxe plan), it says: No support php scripts. Could anyone explain me? Because according to this article, now the plan does.

If you are hosted on a Windows IIS 7 account, then there is support for some of the apps. You can see the version you are on when you first enter the Hosting Control Center.

    Hello,
Now that Microsoft has finally released the URL Rewrite Module Go Live @ http://blogs.iis.net/ruslany/archive/2008/09/11/url-rewrite-module-go-live-release.aspx ,

Can you please consider installing it onto the shared hosting iis 7.0 servers?

I guess URL Rewriting is a really sought-for feature and is now officially available.

(Pretty links with Wordprees WITH output cache - here we go! http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/466/enabling-pretty-permalinks-in-wordpress/ )

    Hello,

Thank you for the great work!

I think that if you would really want to be ok with PHP on IIS then you should seriously consider adding the followings -

    1. (Brand new) Microsoft URL Rewrite Module for IIS 7.0 Go Live.
    Available on http://www.iis.net/downloads/default.aspx?tabid=34&i=1691&g=6
    And a more detailed information with a 64bit version on - http://blogs.iis.net/ruslany/archive/2008/09/11/url-rewrite-module-go-live-release.aspx

The configuration is done via web.config so you don't need to supply any configuration tools.
And yes, it completely supports caching.

    2. (KB954946) - IIS7.0 REQUEST_URI Fix.
    Available here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954946

    3. Enable Kernel Caching so we can configure it on our web.config (does not affect folders without explicitly setting cache in the web.config for that folder)

All of the above are available strictly from Microsoft! (NO 3rd parties!!)

Adding these will surely help resolve 99% of IIS related PHP problems and will further make your hosting solution stand from the crowd for IIS PHP users.
(Now with IIS being such a superb PHP platform with FastCGI)

    Thank you for listening,

    Ron Kuper

BTW - I think you should actually encourage users to consider Kernel Cache as it will Substantially decrease load from your servers!

YES. another vote for Microsoft's IIS 7 URL Rewrite Module.

It is one of the reasons why I thought of migrating from IIS6 to 7 and an unlimited hosting account only to find that it's not installed

Please seriously consider this as I believe the additional of this support is trivial but will be a big plus on your hosting service

Has anyone been successful using the following combination on Windows Shared Hosting: IIS-7 / PHP-5 / MSSQL-2005? I know that PHP is more often used to access MySQL databases, but we have 700+ PHP pages that hit MSSQL. I have been successful hitting an external GoDaddy MSSQL test DB from my own IIS7/PHP5 hosting server. We have been using a code generator (CodeCharge Studio 4.1). I have been trying to run a simple php connection test with the following 1 line of code. This line of code works a-ok in my IIS/PHP/MSSQL environment. It looks like the php.ini settings on the windows hosting site is setup correctly to support MSSQL2005 (phpinfo()). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

I am trying to get ioncube loaders running on IIS7/PHP5 but was told that Zend Optimizer is not supported on IIS7! The ioncube installation instructions for modifying php.ini use the Zend extension. GoDaddy support suggested installing Zend directly but I haven't been able to find out how to so that as a user. GoDaddy won't support the Zend installation and therefore won't support ioncube either.

Anybody have any luck loading ioncube loaders on IIS7 with or without Zend?
