IIS 6 to IIS 7 Migration

Because of popular demand we have added an option to migrate your Windows hosting account from IIS 6 to IIS 7. This button can be found in 'IIS Settings' under 'Content' in the Hosting Control Center. Please note the following before migrating.

-This process requires you to backup your database(s), remove manually and then restore after the upgrade.
- O
nce your account is configured with IIS 7, you cannot downgrade to IIS 6.

Ah man, too late. I already canceled everything and recreated the websites. Ah well, that's what I get for being impatient.

Is there any chance to get .Net 3.5 SP1 on the IIS7 Servers?

Sorry for the delayed response. Go ahead and give our support team a call. They can put in the request.

Can you tell me how long the migration process takes? How long will my site be down for? Thanks, Richard.

Thank you, thank you! I was waiting for a good time where I could do all the steps necessary the old way (download my entire site, cancel my account, open a new account, wait for account to be set up, upload everything back up, set up my databases, and request a credit from support for my old account), and this just eliminated about 90% of the headaches involved.

Will my e-mail service be interrupted? For example, if you're hosting example.com for me and I have an e-mail address of ron@example.com, then I do the upgrade to IIS 7, will e-mail sent to my account get bounced back while the upgrade is taking place?

Actually, you don't have to back up your file before upgrading to IIS-7 - Godaddy will do it for you. I found their service exceptional!

Thank you, Robert, I know. I was just trying to emphasize to others how much easier it is now. But I still don't know if my e-mail will be interrupted during the upgrade.

    Hi,

I have been regularly recommending discountasp as our preferred vendor to all of my IT clients for the past few years. Based on this blog, I tried the godaddy service. After setting up a complex .net site, its SQL 2005 DB and file permissions for file upload, I think i am going to bring all my business to you. The set up interface is top notch, thanks again!!

My site has been unavailable after the IIS 7 migration. Traffic analysis from google analytics just prove that the visitors cannot also access the website.
It keeps asking for a username and password even when i have files uploaded.
