The AccountExec tool, in the Hosting Control Center, gives you the ability to add an AccountExec and assign different permissions. You have the option to grant administrative, infrastructure, content and reporting access. Once permissions are granted, your new AccountExec can access the hosting account by following this link: https://hostingmanager.secureserver.net/Login.aspx.

To learn more about the various permissions and how to set up a Hosting AccountExec see the following articles.

AccountExec Permissions

This button can be found in 'IIS Settings' under 'Content' in the Hosting Control Center. Please note the following before migrating.

-This process requires you to backup your database(s), remove manually and then restore after the upgrade.
- Once your account is configured with IIS 7, you cannot downgrade to IIS 6.

For more information on IIS, see these IIS help articles.
A New Way to Manage Your .Htaccess

If you're looking to manage your extensions or redirects without messing with your .htaccess file, look no further. We recently added two features to the Hosting Control Center that help to automate this process. In both cases, if an .htaccess file already exists, these managers will simply add the new details to the existing file.

The Extension Manager
Edit the current extensions in your account or create your own custom extensions. It allows users to specify which application (PHP, for instance) handles certain file extensions (.php5, for instance). Located under 'Settings' in the Hosting Control Center for more details see the following help article.

How do I change the default program for a file type in my hosting account?

Site Redirects Manager

Now you can send your visitors to a different destination within your site or to a completely new web address. Located under 'Content' in the Hosting Control Center, the Site Redirects Manager is the place to create, modify and delete domain redirects. They can be 301(permanent) or 302 (temporary). Lets take a look at some common redirect scenarios.

Example 1: Redirect All Domains

In this example, any domain that is pointing to this hosting account, regardless of its path, will be redirected to http://externaldomain.org. In most cases, there will be no need to specify a path.

Example 2:Redirect to a Blog

In this example, the customer wants to redirect their domain http://example.org to their blog at http://example.org/blog. This redirect will be very common and will cause a redirect loop if you select any content-type other than “No Redirect”. When working properly, if the browser tries to go to http://example.org, it will be redirected to http://example.org/blog.

Example 3: Specifying a Path

If you have created a blog with Wordpress and you want people who go to your Joomla site to be redirected to your new blog site, then you may need to specify a path. The example below will redirect http://example.org/joomla to http://example.org/wordpress. In this case you may want to redirect the contents since there is no risk of a redirect loop.

Use these instructions for setting up a Redirect using the Site Redirects Manager.

phpMyAdmin Picks Up the Pace

We've updated phpMyAdmin to be even faster, exponentially faster, which saves you more time. The database summary pages use a new algorithm that's 100 times faster than before! We have more phpMyAdmin updates on the horizon, stay tuned.
Hosting Connection Updates- January 8, 2009

Upgrades:
For those looking to use this new feature, the 'Allow Direct Database Access' option will need to be enabled upon set up.

In order to provide the best experience, customers using direct database access are required to be located in our newest hosting environment. For our existing customers, we're in the process of creating a mechanism for you to have your account moved to the new environment. If you have databases, you may choose to use the existing MySQL/SQL Server backup tool to save your content before removing that database and enabling direct database access.

For additional articles look here.
Can I connect to my database remotely?

Even with increased functionality because of this offering, it is also a less secure way to manage your databases.

Unlimited Databases
Our new unlimited hosting plan now includes unlimited databases.

Setting up a MySQL Database for Your Web Site
Setting up a SQL Server Database on Your Hosting Account

Fedora Core 8

This week we added Red Hat Fedora Core 8 to our list of supported Linux operating systems for Dedicated Hosting. If you already have a Linux Dedicated account, you will see Fedora Core 8 as an available option when you reprovision your server in your Hosting Control Center.

Our Fedora Core offerings are slightly behind the typical Fedora Core release cycle. There are two main reasons for this. First, we want to offer the most stable product for our customers. Secondly, we need the control panel software to be supported on the specific platform. For example, even though Fedora Core 10 is available, the Plesk Control Panel is not currently available for Fedora Core 10.

Fedora Core 9 is currently being tested by our developers and will be released sometime in the near future. Stay tuned!

SSH, or Secure Shell, is a program that you can use to log in to another computer over a network. In this way you can execute commands on a remote machine and then move files from one machine to another.

Where do I find this new feature?
All paid accounts will find SSH under 'Settings' in the Hosting Control Center.

How do I begin?
First, you will need to enable SSH in your hosting account using the following help article.
Enabling SSH on Your Linux Shared Hosting Account

Once my account is enabled how do I connect?
In order to connect, you will need an SSH client. You can select multiple domains by checking them one by one, or selecting all domains using the bolded check mark found in the header. You then can edit or delete all the selected items, with the setup status, by clicking these icons and performing the appropriate actions.

Add Multiple Items
To add multiple subdomains simply click the 'Add Subdomain' button in the action bar and enter the subdomains delimited by a comma. If you decide to make your hosted directory name the same as your subdomain name, a folder will be created for each subdomain. Currently there is a limit of 50 subdomains that can be added at once.

Domain Auto Complete
When changing a primary domain, setting up a new account, or adding a new alias domain you will find a text box to enter the desired domain name. This text box will provide suggestions based on the text entered. If you want to see all the ‘.com’ domain names available, just type ‘.com’ into this text box. Once the desired domain name is found, select it and the text box will automatically populate.

Directory Browser
You will now find a 'browse' button next to the folder path text box. To select an existing folder, all you need to do is click this button and select the desired path. After the selection is made, you will see the selected directory in the text box. To create a new path you can either type one in directly, or select an existing one and append/modify it.

Virtual Directory Creation
All you are required to do now is add or edit any alias or subdomain with the desired path. If the path is not a virtual directory, one will be created with permissions automatically.

Other Enhancements
First, the user will no longer need to exit their account and re-enter in order to see if any changes have been completed. All you would have to do, is press the 'refresh list' button.

We have cropped any long text and added a tool tip in order to view the text in its entirety.

And finally, you can now edit a subdomain name.

More details are supplied in the following help articles.
Can I host multiple domains on a single hosting account?
Managing Your Hosting Account Domains
What is a subdomain?
Managing Your Hosting Account Subdomains

Feelin' the Need for More Speed?

Beginning this week, we are proud to announce the arrival of Intel® CoreTM2 Quad processors into our dedicated server offerings. Let's take a look at some of these file transfer options.

File Manager
File Manager was created for ease of use when transferring material. You can find it in the Hosting Control Center under 'Content'.
Using the File Manager in the Hosting Control Center

FTP Client
The FTP Client is also located in the Hosting Control Center under 'Content'. This client is best used for moderate amounts of data.
Using the Hosting Control Center Web-Based FTP Client

Internet or Windows Explorer
Using your Internet Explorer browser, you can navigate to your domain via ftp.mydomainname.tld. A login box will appear requiring the credentials you created when you set up your hosting account.
Using Internet or Windows Explorer to Upload Your Site with Windows XP

External Clients
There are many free resources that are available to use in order to upload content to your site. Many applications used to create your site have the FTP functionality built in. To learn more, you can review the article below.
What FTP Software Should I Use and Where Do I Get It?

In addition, you may have more then one FTP user that has access to upload content to
